A Tribute to Singer / Songwriter Andrea Martin, R.I.P. 1972 - 2021

Andrea Monica Martin (April 14, 1972 – September 27, 2021) was an American R&B singer-songwriter and record producer.

She was primarily known for writing hit songs (often with longtime partner Ivan Matias) for artists like Toni Braxton ("I Love Me Some Him"), Monica ("Before You Walk Out of My Life"), Angie Stone ("Wish I Didn't Miss You"), En Vogue ("Don't Let Go (Love)"), SWV ("You're the One"), and Leona Lewis ("Better in Time").
Martin worked with The X Factor 2008 winner Alexandra Burke on a song for her debut album Overcome.

A major in vocal music, Andrea graduated from Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in 1990.

In 1998, Martin released The Best of Me, as well as a few singles.
Her single "Let Me Return the Favor" reached No. 82 on the Billboard Hot 100 in November 1998, and her single "Share the Love" was remixed for clubs and peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Dance Charts in June 1999.
That same year, she appeared in concert on BET's Girls Night Out, headlining with then-Arista labelmates Monica, Faith Evans, Deborah Cox, and Shanice.
She appeared as a back-up vocalist on many albums.

Martin died on September 27, 2021, at age 49.

I just saw a video on this platform of a man talking to her and asking about her story.She said she wrote a lot of hit songs but the industry basically used her and spit her out.He asked her to sing something and she sang a Monica song.The lady is clearly on drugs but I am almost certain it is Ms.Martin and it was so sad to watch.The family finally said she died from cancer, and that would explain the weight loss, but that video is telling a very different story.

How did this young lady die? I find it odd she died in a hospital and the cause is unknown. Perhaps the hospital is responsible for her death. I hope an autopsy was done and her family is looking into it. There was a go fund me account for Andrea Martin and only $110. Of $50, 000 was raised. Where’s Monica, SWV, Toni Braxton, En vogue and all these other artists she wrote music for? They can’t come up with $50, 000 all the millions they make.
