The whole point Dom is that people who would buy an iphone anyway can spend the same amount of money and Apple gives a cut to Red. People are still free to give to Red or any other org they choose

So what do you say? 160mil is too little? They still THE BIGGEST donor of RED. And there aren’t any other phone makers that do this. Instead of saying: „if you are on the market for a phone (and your audience basically is) go buy this phone because it helps raise money for a good cause”... you punch them in the balls and say they do something bad. Kind of weird. But of course, straight donating is good, and people who have the phone they like and don’t want a phone, and want to contribute, they should donate as much as they want to, to any charity they feel like helping.

The point is, not only do you get a kick ass red iPhone, but a portion of the sales gets donated to Red. I don’t think anyone is trying to spin it as the same thing as a personal donation. It’s just, rather than buying a silver phone and nothing gets donated, you buy a particular phone and then some money gets donated. I don’t see anything wrong with that. Essentially Apple is donating on your behalf out of their profit margin for the product.

If Apple released a Product Red iPhone X at its launch, my indecisiveness between color options probably would have been nonexistent. That red just pops too hard! 👌🏽💯🔥
