I have owned the XM4s, and the AirPods Max….I sold both of them after a got XM5s. Great review, short and to the point.

The XM5’s completely surprised me as well. Such great sound quality, with nice bass. All genres of music sound excellent in these. Nice and loud too. Oh can’t forget the ANC. AirPods Max is good, but not better than the XM5’s. It’s okay to say that 😊 Apple can’t be good at everything lol And I love Apple!

Great vid! Dialed in with EQ settings the XM5s sound phenomenal especially in a wired setup with lossless audio. AirPods Max still has some advantages out the gate but I was surprised how I preferred the XM5s in many instances.

I have the xm3’s and they’re simply amazing. Awesome that older models drop in price a lot once a new one comes out!

I just picked up the XM 4s on prime day for $246. I’ve been using the Sony MDR 1AM2s as my daily drivers. I still use those for music but i needed a dependable wireless set of headphones. I have a pair of AirPods Max but i just cant wear them. They’re too heavy for me. Outstanding content as always 👍😎

Your choice of words is very good in differentiating the 3 headphones. Guess that’s so fundamental but often overlooked by others.

The spatial audio works great on the APMax though. Now I can listen on Netflix as well. I mean is like being in the theater pure transparent sound. Also Dolby Atmos on Apple music is beyond cool with spatial audio. ANC is better on the APMax and sound I'm listening to soundtracks and classical music and I have to admit there's more sound present on the AP Max. Also I like that they are modular. That said the APMax are so expensive so my second best choice are the Sony's XM5. Great review.

Interesting! You're the first reviewer to say the sound of the XM4s wasn't so great. Were you using them with an iPhone? Maybe that's where the problem was.

I still feel a lot of people might be better off saving a couple hundred bucks and getting the refurbished XM3 or XM4. The XM3 has Apt-x, and a lot of people think the best tuning out of the box. And it's better for the environment, saves you a few hundred bucks.

You're the first one I know that has dissed the XM4s. In fact most experts think the XM4s are better. I know this because before I bought a pair I looke's d at YouTube for weeks and then went for the XM4s and also I bought a pair of 5909s by Mark Levinson. I guess there is no accounting for taste :) Nice vid.

I've had the WH-XB700s for a few years now. Hope to upgrade later this year. I don't think Apple headphones work on the PlayStation console, which is ridiculous. They're headphones.

The best part of Sony releasing a new model of the XM series is that now the XM4s and XM3s will be heavily discounted in the Black Friday sales. Amazon were selling the XM4s for £209 on Prime Day. They'll definitely be even cheaper on Black Friday
