So Novikova became Prima after 19 years of dancing and that it took so long, is widely considered a scandal. I don't think Fateyev wants to look ridiculous again.
The other Primas go as follows: Visneva very soon after graduation( don't know exactly), Kondaurova after 11 years, Tereskina and Somova after 5, Skorik after 8.
Based on the above, notwithstanding their abilities, the following are unlikely to be named: Osmolkina 23 years of dancing, Yevseyeva 21, Kollegova 22, Matvienko 21, Shirinkina 16.
The next two still have a chance: Batoyeva 13 and Shapran 11.
The rest dance 7 years or less.
Fateyev does not seem to be in a hurry to name Primas in general. 6 years passed between naming Skorik and Novikova.
So it is possible that a second soloist or lower will be named.
I think Shakirova and Khoreva are the frontrunners.

It was Batoeva! It's really long deserved.
Shakirova is next definitely.

Renata Shakirova is the most exciting of them all by a long shot. She of course brings to mind Plisetskaya with that jump and her blinding charisma.

I have to say I really like the younger generation of Mariinsky soloists. Shakirova is fantastic in everything, already dancing a huge repertoire, and has so much personality on top of her technique especially in roles like Rubies. She should definitely be promoted sooner rather than later. Illiushkina I have also been admiring much recently she has many special qualities on top of her superb technique (her Swan Lake in particular is a beautiful interpretation), but she was very recently promoted to First Soloist and probably has some time before any more promotions. Nagahisa instantly stands out in this grouping, but in a way that can only contribute to the Mariinsky. Her lines and poses are exquisitely shaped, and she dances with a distinct lightness. I think she really brings something new and valuable to the Mariinsky. While I love the younger generation, many of the older dancers fully deserve a promotion for their long careers at the Mariinsky, like Batoeva who has some of my favorite facial expressions I have ever seen on stage.

Batoeva has a great personality, she gives a personal touch to each role.I also like Shakirova very organic and she is improving a lot technically.🌷🌸💐🌺

I believe Khoreva will be a principal before long, and with good reason. She keeps getting better and stronger, she is working smart. She also has a slight edge in her physique and lines that is just genetics, like Sylvie and Sveta - who people criticized/criticize for similar things to Khoreva. Tons of dancers have social media but Maria makes more people stop and watch because she just has that “it factor.” JMO. I really would like to see her in Romeo and Juliet. I also think she will be good as O/O.

Thank you for this video. I thought they were all wonderful, and then I saw Osmolkina. Nothing over done, everything just right. Breathtakingly, heart-touchingly beautiful. To me, none of the rest come close and she is clearly a prima in all but name.

And now we know! Batoeva has been promoted to a principal dancer! Very well deserved in my opinion. Congratulations to the new Mariinsky prima!

I was waiting for this and you did not disappoint! Thank you BunduBallerina for an amazing compilation. I had never seen Batoeva at this variation, wow! My comments regarding next promotion:
-- Not now, not in the future: Matvienko, Shapran, Yevseyeva, Shirinkina.
-- Not now, maybe in the future: Nagahisa, Iliushkina. Based on artistic director's preferences, Nagahisa is definitely a future promotion.
-- Not now, DEFINITELY in the future: Khoreva. Again based on artistic director's preferences, she could as well be the next in line. But that would be unfair if someone was to be promoted now.
-- Not now, YESTERDAY: Kolegova, Osmolkina. I don't see them being promoted so late in their career like it happened with Novikova. Novikova had been dancing a lot before her promotion.
-- NOW: Batoeva, Shakirova. In this order. They deserve it the most at this point. Maybe Batoeva more considering seniority (but not only).

While Khoreva is great, I think she has more maturing to do. I feel like thanks to her online popularity, she’s been rushed and has debuted a lot of principal roles which many have been subpar in my opinion (mainly in interpretation). She’ll definitely become principal in the future, but I don’t think it’ll benefit her to be promoted right now.

My personal favorites are,

1-Shirinkina
2-Bateova
3-Shakirova
4-Osmolkina
5-Kolegova

I hope to see them all promoted in the future but it seems unlikely. The most likely to be promoted in my opinion are Khoreva and Shakirova, then maybe Bateova. Thanks for posting such an interesting video!! ❤️

This video was both fun and interesting to watch. The dancers are all extremely talented and worthy of a promotion. Thank you ❤❤❤
