Thank you! Great video. You just saved me $479 at a local shop because I can definitely do this myself.

I’ve got a horror story which led me to this video. I did it just as you described there but either got hydraulic lock or the valving wasn’t opening at all. A YZ 85 shock that was pretty frozen would only move a couple inches. Nearly a liter of oil ended up on me, the ceiling, a shelf with electronics, and my garage floor.

Great video and helped me a great deal when I rebuilt a Yamaha R1 shock. I now have a Honda CBR600RR shock that I want to rebuild but because the oil expansion reservoir is at 90 degrees to the main chamber, I was wondering what the procedure is to filling the oil up in those chambers, because obviously they are not pointing straight up with each other.

Hi

Excellent video.

Just tell me one thing, how much pressure do you put on pre-assembly? I'm not talking about the final pressure

Hi, great stuff! I’m interested in finding out where you got the replacement orings/seal and bushing for the rear shock seal head.

What is one to do if the seal head won't move down to allow the circlip to be removed?

i have a smart car 2006 and having a devil of a time getting shocks for the front. loads for 2008 and up, super cheap... but IF you can find them for mine, they are around 800s for two - and they're tiny little little things. so thought i would try to rebuild them.. might as well buy all the tools, then at least i'll have them afterwards.

So it’s safe to use air in a Kyb shock?

Just found this vid after I had already started taking my shock apart. You said to check the action of the shock after the spring is removed. I just checked and had no rebound. I already let the air out of the shock though, so does that make a difference? What could be wrong?

I have a problem I need help with. My rebound dampening adjustment screw broke on the inside and it doesn't go in our out. It just clicks and constantly spins. How would I go about fixing that
