Sew Simple Cafe Curtains

Do you want to spruce up your kitchen windows? You can do it! Cafe curtains are window treatments that cover just the bottom sash, and happen to be one of the simplest sewing projects for beginners. This video shows you how to hem the sides and bottom of the fabric of your choice (cotton works great!). You'll also see how two straight seams form a pocket at the top of the curtain for the rod to be inserted. Alternatively, you can hem all four sides of each cafe curtain panel and hang the panels from curtain rings instead of with a rod. Don't sew? Use fusible hem tape for a similar result! Now that you know how easy it is to make cafe curtains, you may just want to make window treatments in rooms other than the kitchen.

Wish you showed more of a completed project image in both the beginning and end of the video.

If you lined up the checks in the fabric you can just sew on the lines. When working with checks, you need to line them up. If this is a beginner's project, a floral print would be better.

Where’s the end result? We have no idea how it ends up looking.

Hi! Thank you for the video, very informative.
But the top with the rod pocket in it, the printed lines of the check were not straight. Wouldn't it be easier to iron the fold overs by the gingham lines to keep it straight?
Take care, stay safe.☺️✌️☮️🖖😷

At the beginning she says the width of the fabric would be the width of the fabric with the selvage edges trimmed off. Later she goes on to say to turn the selvage edges twice???? Is this after trimming? This is not clear.
