Doing our last honey harvest of the year is always satisfying for me as I now can rest assured all of our hives are down to 2 deeps and ready for the spring time splits. The real bonus this year was how much honey I was able to get, right around 30 gallons. A very respectable amount considering I was thinking it would only be half that amount. Happy New Year everyone! Well done to the bees for producing all that honey. I have never been near a bee hive😅 but did wonder if that hot knife you sometimes use in bee removals could have been used to uncap the honey cells? I have seen a normal knife being used. The wee comb scraping tool must have been a lot if work.

It's warm today here, only -6°C (21°F). There is no harvesting of honey this late in the year this far north, bees are tucked in for the winter and hives are bundled up in isolation layers.
