The Pentastar v6 towing almost 100% of it’s rating up a hill @ above sea level should get considerable praise.

This is why I subscribed! No other reviewers provide real world comparisons or videos of what people are actually curious about.

I tow with a 2017 ram v6 with around 6klbs for work fairly regularly and it actually has a decent amount of power...its impressive for a v6

I just have to say, I don't own a truck and I will probably never own a truck. But you guys do such a great job on your show (personalities, production value, editing) that I'm sitting here at 8am watching your video about trucks.

The V6 deserves praise for the way it performed. Not only did it complete the task, but it did it while pushing at its limit.
In addition, rarely will anyone be towing close to 8k pounds at that type of elevation and grade.
That v6 earned a thumbs up for what it is.

Guys, thanks for the information. I have a RAM 1500 4WD V8. No regrets and up to 19.2 MPG climbing hills and down the hill with up to 1000 pounds. Excellent pick up.

the cool thing is that you maxed out the ram v6 and it was ABLE to complete the mission. ram set an honest maximum tow rating on the v6. Honestly I would never need to tow with a pickup truck i just like having the bed to haul stuff with the ram v6 is definently on my radar!

Thank You Guys !!!! Great Review. I am totally HAPPY with my 2016 Ram V6. I would never push an engine as hard as you do, even if it was a V8. I would just get in the slower lane watching the temp"s and enjoy the drive adding a few minutes up that pass like the 18 wheelers do on that Huge incline !!! I always baby my Truck on extreme roads . What is the rush, , You would never push your self that hard walking or bike riding up a steep hill, so why do it to your, ,, Truck that you Love .
My V6 Ram now has almost 200 THOUSAND miles on it YAAA !!! My Ram is the best RIDE I have ever Driven and Yes I love it, and RESPECT it . It does SO much work for me, I am so thankful for it .. Thanks for the Great Reviews Vadka and gang !!!!

This has to be the best way to make a living. Reviewing and playing with trucks (and some other stuff I'm guessing)!

I guess for me, on the rare occasions I max out going up a mountain, I can live with an extra 45 seconds to save $2500. I appreciate this, because I am convinced that what I want it for - daily commuter + towing a boat or small trailer < 4000lb in mostly flat terrain, the V6 is enough.

Great real test. Although the V6 was maxed out, I noticed that you were still passing other trucks and trailers on the hills. Yes, they were probably heavier trailers, but still... And, the V6 version missed the benchmark, but only by 41 seconds. Over an 8 mile uphill route, I'd say it still did the job. Bottom line, if you're going to tow 7000 lbs, especially in hills, get the V8. But, if you're not towing often and only towing about half the weight, then I think the V6 is a viable choice. Thanks guys.

I have the 3.6 in a jeep Grand Cherokee with the 8 speed. I took a trip in Colorado a couple years back pulling a 3500lb trailer. Over 5 or 6 passes at least 3 => than the ike. I could hold 70 on every one that speed limit allowed:). Over all for the trip I averaged 16mpg which was impressive. The Toyota tundra 4.7 in the group with an extra 1000 lbs on the trailer averaged 8mpg. The 3500lb trailer probably had more wind drag. Point being this engine is great for most. Id say regular towing of up to 5000lbs is fine. In the video it clearly did really well with 7000lbs considering its size and the load. But if towing was a regular thing the 5.7 is a must.

You guys have the BEST truck review channel on YouTube. By far. I watch your channel like I watch regular television.

I haul my 5500lb camper regularly across NJ through PA and upstate NY. Took it all the way out to the mid west on a big haunting camping trip. I bought the Ram1500 v6 etorque crew cab over the v6 Hemi. 13.5 MPG through mountains maintaining 60-70MPH. Very rarely have I ever topped 4000 RPMS (with 1 exception traveled through PA and forgot tow haul mode once at most I hit 4500 RPMs). 58k sticker price bought for 48k Fully loaded minus the airbag suspension. I invested extra money in a good weight distribution hitch. City driving I get 22-24MPG all day long. Drive the beach regularly on the Jerseyshore. V8Hemi has no use for me I will never haul 10, 000lbs 😆
