I am Part German, and my great grandparents/grandparents were actually affected by the movement of the border. They lived in Stettin, a city in Prussia, but after WWII became a part of West Pomeranian and is called Szczecin. They were forced to move after the war and ended up in West Germany. Presumably if the border didn't move, they would have stayed where they were and lived under the eastern bloc rule. My dad, who is american, most certainly never would never have met my mom if that were the case, and thus, I would never be born. An interesting theory to think about though.

I dispute that the Netherlands would join the french sphere of influence most likely the anglosphere due to various factors. mainly us being partially protestant as well as just hating the french. Just sticking with Belgium wouldn't be good enough. but the main points might be correct depends on the formation of the Benelux and the formation of the European community for coal and steel. That is the linchpin in this situation as you said. This might still happen it just feels less likely.
