I really appreciate JetPens' videos because truthfully, and I'm happy to support a company that does such excellent work documenting modern and historic international stationery especially for an English speaking audience who doesn't necessarily have other ways of easily accessing this information

I was today years old when I learned why people often refer to ballpoint pens as a "biro" - thank you JetPens for answering the question I never knew I had

I found one of my Lisa Frank gel pens and swapped out the dried ink for a new non-dried ink, I love the double takes it gets when I use it.

One of my first jobs was in a Sanrio mall store in 1984. I still have most if not all of the Sanrio brand things I bought back then and over the years. Very vintage!

I’ve worked in Japanese company before and was amazed with the office stationeries. It also help workers become productive. I also appreciate how they continuously improving their products as part of kaizen way of life. I am so happy that we have jetpens that sell these products here in North America.

I had no idea that they were now making "stress relief" themed stationery. That's a whole other level. Love it. I will be the end of some rather annoying episodes of people clicking pens non stop. Nice. :)

As far as fountain pens are concerned, the nib is everything. If the nib doesn’t perform well, the pen becomes a mere piece of plastic !
The three Japanese brands (Pilot, Sailor & Platinum) make the best performing in-house nibs on market ❤

I have a Crayola Collector's Colors box that has the history of Binney & Smith wrapped around it! It also has 8 discontinued colors in it. My grandma bought it, likely in the early 90s, and I inherited it when she passed away.

The 100 years history of Japanese stationary was so fascinating to learn about, how each evolved one into another! The most interesting that blew my mind was washi tape being invented in 2006!? Thats so recent i had no idea!! Thank you for all the research you did for this video, i learned so much!!

And thank you to Miriam for sharing that vintage marker set and that hilarious lil shout out xD thanks for also sharing your bloopers, theyre so cute!

The most vintage stationary I have is 2 hard clear plastic sanrio pencilcases from 2000 & 2003 that me & my sister used in elementary and they are somewhat cracked with the printed characters chipped and peeling off but still really like the ways the spaces are divided and organized.

My fiance still has his original Pilot FriXion pen (a black one) from 2006! He hadn't used it much since high school and (last I checked) it still works! I remember him letting me try it out and I was blown away at how cool the ink worked! Oh man, not long after that, I bought my first set of FriXion pens. Used them all up in a few weeks lmao. Then I didn't buy more FriXion pens until like 2019 when I got back into gel pens in general. They're just so freaking cool

I loved the information in this video. I also loved Miriam's bloopers and additional stuff at the end. Sometimes I think Miriam is too serious and formal but it is clear that she is not when you see the "outtakes." Keep up the good work!

I have two Pilot Dr. Grip barrels that my grandmother used before she retired as a nurse in the early 2000s. I'm in nursing school now and I use Zebra Sarasa Mark-On refills with them!

Thanks, Miriam. Very interesting, partly because I have been around for most of those years. Not in Japan, but in the USA. Yes, I have numerous "ancient" stationary items in my desk that remain useful. You touched on many of my favorites. If my history teachers had your cheerful demeanor and presentation, I'd have paid a lot closer attention!
