ChatGPT and the Importance of Good Questions

ChatGPT and the Importance of Good Questions // ChatGPT is getting a lot of attention right now. Some of it’s good, some not so good, and it seems like everyone’s trying to figure out how they feel about it.

This isn’t news to me. I’ve experienced over my 15 year career working in data analytics and it’s a topic I teach about in my “Think Like an Analyst” training. I have a perfect example of this in asking ChatGPT a very similar question in 6 different ways with 6 different results.

ChatGPT presents a good opportunity to highlight the importance of good questions but it’s hardly a new problem. It pops up daily in most work environments for many different reasons. And if you’re like me, you’ve run into plenty of cases where you had to repeat a search in a search engine or on a shopping site using a slightly different term because you weren’t getting the results you wanted. AI and Machine Learning are great assets and present some neat opportunities but don’t forget that they’re constantly learning and only as good as the inputs they get.

I absolutely agree, when I was working in a project last semester using R, I found extremely important that depending how I make the question was going to be the outcome or answer, coding wise or reporting wise.
