Hey, I am wondering how much flying Id need to be able to soar at the beach? I fly xc on a paraglider and ive always wanted to hangglide but couldnt stomach climbing hills with it 🤣 we have some nice dunes and stuff here. Would I need a lot of hours?

The kite you use here is an old one? Has a fixed cross bar. Have you tried it against more modern sky floaters such as a Malibu or a falcon 4? And if so do you notice any notable difference in their handling?

This is a Regalo wing.
NASA was going to use the concept during project Gemini to land the space capsules.
The advantage of recovering astronauts was big. The cost of using military ships to collect spacecraft from the oceans was massive.
The Soviets used parachutes and retrorockets to get their mission capsules plopped onto land.
But on their first space mission, they had their cosmonaut jump from the craft and use a regular parachute to land softly.
Yuri Gagarin ended up 2000 kilometers off target. He then had to hike through the wilderness to find a phone to call Moscow to retrieve him.
