NUMECA introduces overset grid technology for FINE™/Marine

DescriptionMotion modeling has always been a complex topic in CFD simulation. NUMECA’s FINE™/Marine has always been ahead of the game when it comes to virtual prototyping in the marine environment, and more specifically motion capturing where our sliding grids, mesh deformation and adaptive grid refinement were show stoppers from the get-go.
Now we’ve made another quantum leap forward by introducing Overset – Chimaera grid technology, allowing an unsurpassed ease of use and set-up combined with lightning fast wall clock simulation times.
We have applied this technology to a DTMB 5415 ship where we have evaluated the PMM yaw and sway motion in a confined region.
