If it doesn't idle, but runs good, the issue is usually the throttle cable shut off switch. And reason is usually too loose throttle cable.

Awesome video! This was the issue with a '01 Sportsman I was working on and had to install a new carb onto. When I got it, it had a 34mm carb rigged into a 40mm intake and didnt run well. After swapping to the correct (but aftermarket) 40mm carb, it would only run with a bit of throttle input but still wouldnt idle on its own so I was right to be suspicious of a kinda hidden killswitch! After adjusting the TSS it runs perfectly!

Got it warmed up, cruised around until the fan came on, then went for a speed run and it does 57mph!

Cut the top wire and problem solved. Just like the yamaha TORS system it should be the first thing to be deleted

Great video. Can the thumb control be adjusted as to "close" your grip a little more? My tumb get fatigued from my grip being so wide open at lower speeds.

Any info on if your throttle is sticking and rising when you touch the cable or turn the bars? My cable is free, it's not tight or being pulled. It retracts just fine. Could it be electric?
