well after the incident i think the csx 8888 was modified to a sd 40-3 and re-numbered it i guess that what i heard since i learned about this incidents

This disaster vegan in March 15th of 2001. Alright so as you know csx 8888 engineer noticed a missalined track switch. In the toledo branch subdivision. He set the auto brake but instead he set the throttle to notch 8. He tried to get on but it dragged him 50 feet away. There were 47 cars 22 loaded and 25 emptied. One of the tank cars were filled with molten phenol which is a flammable substance. When csx 8888 was about to pass a crossing a sheriff was sent to shoot the gas tank. It did nothing.Csx sd40 another train set off to stop 8888. It went reversed and it went 65mph laying on the horn. When the train was caught up it slowed down to couple the train. I was put to full brakes. The engineer of 8888 manages to get on and stop the train. At last the incident was a lesson.

For those who don't know. The crazy 8's incident was an unmanned locomotive left in notch 8 (full throttle) heading straight for a raised curve and almost wiped out a town.

For those who dont understand : this is the CSX 8888 the engneeir stepped out of the train to solve a switch problem and the train drove faster and the train didn't stop

It wasn't really a disaster, it was more of a goofy mistake. They stopped it in time and everyone on board and around survived. That's why u hear SpongeBob music behind the awful phonk music

If you see a CSX locomotive with the number 4389 in Georgia that is quite literally the crazy 8s 8888 locomotive, they just remodeled it and changed the numbers
