Modern Holidays: Biblical or Pagan? | LHT Presents

Fewer and fewer people are surprised to hear that Christmas, Easter and other popular holidays owe their existence to ancient pagan celebrations. At this point, it’s becoming common knowledge.

The real question Christians need to ask is this: How does GOD feel about these repurposed days of pagan worship? We can say we’re doing it for Jesus—but is it something Jesus actually wants?

Join Phil Sandilands as he traces the history of these holidays while explaining why God cares about the days we celebrate in His honor.

Finally a man with wisdom and understanding, and willing to share with Gods Children. May our Father Lord God have Mercy on us.

Excellent presentation. It is such a blessing to keep God's Feasts listed in Leviticus 23. Thank you for clearly showing the syncretism of paganism in a lot of the religious holidays celebrated today.

I remember being shocked when I learned the "truth" as a 9-year old boy peeking beneath the bedroom door that "Santa Claus" was not real, but really was my mother getting presents down from the attic. I felt lied to. That actually led me to wonder if Jesus Christ was real! Thankfully, from teachers and teachings like this, I learned the Truth as shared here by the writers, presenters and hands behind the scenes at Life, Hope and Truth. Many thanks to you all and your supporters.

Your video presentation is a good compliment to the various COG publications. I encourage you to write a booklet on this subject. Thank you very much for this very presentation.

I think, when faced with this knowledge, much of Christianity struggles with letting go of these pagan holidays. Not because they can't see their origins, but because they are so entrenched in keeping them.

Many have such fond memories attached to these days, that they are unwilling to let go of them and would rather hang on the crutch of "well I'm keeping them for Jesus now" or "I know they are pagan but we don't celebrate the Easter bunny or a fat man in a red suit".

It really boils down to an unwillingness to let go of these "happy traditions". Satan has played his hand well here.

I agree with you and don't celebrate these pagan holidays. Jesus was not born in December.

Considering Pagans had no idea about a bible, it's not surprising they didn't know about God the creator. They worshiped gods that they thought were the creator's of all they saw

It seems to me that some of these feasts are too be performed in sacred places by high priests. Are they all for everyone to do in their homes?

However there was a permanent break between the Hebrews or Jews and the Nazarenes or Christians as early as 80 is evidence that the Feasts of the Nativity and the Feast of the Resurrection were already being celebrated by Christians while the Apostle John was still alive....certainly before the martyrdom of Bishop Polycarp in 150 AD. So there it is!

It is fatuous to seek for a Holy day that was instituted by Christs church AFTER the scriptures were written course you wont find any word of Christmas but you will read lengthy accounts of the Nativity of our Lord in Matthew and lies the justification...

so we shouldn’t celebrate our birthdays either, correct?

WAIT A MINUTE
St Valentinus sanctioned proper CHRISTIAN marriages and was murdered savagely by the Roman beast system - St Valentine’s Day was his day he returned to The Father.

To include Christianity in with paganism is to say that there's no such true following of Christ, there's no such thing as following the examples and teachings of Christ and His apostles (1 Corinthians 11:1; 1 Peter 2:21; 1 John 2:6), that there is no such true following the examples of Christ and His apostles in the keeping of the seventh day Sabbath (Luke 4:16 > Acts 17:1-2 > Hebrews 4:4, 9) on the day the rest of the English speaking world calls "Saturday", no following the teaching of Christ and His apostle Paul of keeping the Passover and Days of Unleavened Bread in "sincerity and truth" (Luke 22:15, 19-20 > 1 Corinthians 5:7-8; 11:1, 23-25)... But there are those of us who do follow the examples and teachings of Christ of keeping the same Sabbath Jesus and His apostles kept, keep the Passover and Unleavened...according to Jesus' and His apostle Paul's instructions! THAT is true Christianity! And you should NOT include us with those who keep pagan "traditions of men" like sun-day... easter... and christmas, but according to your logic, we might as well just go ahead and follow those pagan "traditions of men" along with the rest of the world since, according to your logic, we are no different from the pagan world!

Buddy ; come on, we are the church age and you are keeping us in bondage by telling us we are to keep Gods holy days of old. God doesn’t like that either so you are doing just what you said God say’s not to do by mixing thing’s together. Leviticus was to the ( Jewish people ) and nowhere in the New Testament we are told to keep these traditions of the Jewish people. God doesn’t like that either. Stop keeping us in bondage of the old Jewish tradition’s. Jesus death on the cross took that all away.
