Process of Pile load test The following tests are important to conduct on Pile foundation:
1. Static Load Test (Initial Load Test) IS CODE 2911: Part 4
2. Dynamic Load Test IS CODE 2911: Part 4
3. Non-Destructive Integrity Test (Sonic Logging
Measurement Test)
IS CODE 14893: 2001
Why testing is important or required?
1. ensure for the safety and quality purpose
2. To revise the working drawings
3. For quality control and assurance.
Static Load Test: This test is to be performed on the
Test pile after 14 days or 28 days of completion of
concreting of a particular pile. This Hydraulic jack is
fitted with and mounted on the pile on which the
bearing plate will be get placed both at the top and
bottom of the hydraulic jack.
The test load which will be 2.5 times of Design safe
load will get impressed and get compressed upon the
bearing plate which is mounted on a Hydraulic jack
through Hydraulic Jack, The acting load will be
transferred to the pile, how much the displacement/
settlement will get visual with the device connected
through pressure gauge with pile through the wire.
This test is to be carried to find out the load-bearing
capacity of the pile. This procedure will be get
repeated multiple times until a desirable result is
achieved.
Less settlement means the pile is safe, which allows
going for regular pile work.
If high range settlement means to design and
specification of the pile should be changed and
testing will be repeated again.
Dynamic Load Test: This test is also to be performed on the Test pile after 14 days or 28 days of completion of concreting of a particular pile. In this test the dead load (kinematic )which will be 2.5 times of design safe load will be hanged through a hydraulic crane with rope at a certain measured calculated
height, later allow to free fall of dead load on the Test
pile and settlement will be get measured by the
device called PDA (Pile Deflection Analyser) through
which different graphs will be get noted through if
high deflection shows the settlement of pile is
maximum, the pile is not safe.
Deflection graphs show and signify the settlement of
the pile and the bearing capacity of the pile. Static and dynamic load test is to be carried out on test pile and Non-destructive integrity (Sonic Logging Test) is non-destructive to be carried out during the driven of the pile. Non-destructive integrity (Sonic Logging Test) signifies the internal performance of concrete in the
pile.
SONIC LOGGING MEASUREMENT TEST: Through this
test we identify whether the concreting in the pile is
proceeding smoothly or not, to ensure the diameter of the pile should not get disturbed through the depth of the pile. High ultrasonic frequency wire will get inserted in the boring hole which is in touch with 2-3 steel bars in the reinforcement case and during concreting transducer and receiver will activate in following to attached with the device which shows the actual performance and workability of concrete.
