Let's build a ChatGPT smart speaker and see how well it performs. This is a quick fun weekend project that uses a Raspberry Pi 4 and some simple Python Code.

Checkout out the source code on GitHUB:

The reason the response slow is because chatGPT server response itself has a latency of a few seconds. You could in theory use one of the latest open source models that are similar to chatGPT in performance, add a few extensions (like allow searching the internet, use apps like calendar or calculator, etc) and run all of that locally, but that would depend on the memory in your raspberry pi board. Might be worth to instead send the data from the speaker over to a local PC server that is running the model instead within the same Wifi network. The latency shouldn't be terrible.

Would you consider doing this and selling it as a cheap sideline business - there aren't many competitors? I want to learn Python and not afraid of Linux but electronics has me baffled.

How can I integrate this into Lenovo smart clock? The Google assistant on the smart clock sucks! Is there a way to make it work like a chat gpt with display?

Alright so this is brilliant, and almost exactly what I was looking for, so here's my pitch.

I'm trying to take one fo those 3 axis talking Skeleton heads, and hook it up to this ChatGPT speaker you've got going on here, to make a somewhat legitimate talking skeleton with it's own "Talking Ai" even though it's just chatGPT, but still.

Hey good video. I would like to take my Gen 1 Alexa device and convert it to ChatGPT, still utilizing the volume ring, microphones, function buttons, WiFi, speakers and power supply. In other words replace Alexa’s control board. Do you think that’s possible?
