Covering nearly 18,000 km², Dogger Bank is the largest sandbank in the North Sea. The German nature conservation area Dogger Bank encompasses an area of 1,700 km². In addition to the species-rich sandy soil community, the fish abundance of the area is of particular importance. The rich supply of food attracts marine mammals and deep-sea birds alike.
