I got stuck in quick sand on a uk beach while holding my toddler. Luckily my dog rescued us both. He acted quicker than my husband who just froze to the spot shouting at me!! The dog (6yr old g.s.d) almost drowned trying to help us. We all went to the public toilets after to get cleaned up.. yes, we washed the dog first! My daughter was fine, (scared and mucky, but fine!) Never saw any signs at all. Didnt even know we had them in Cornwall . RIP Stryder xxx best dog i ever knew ❤

Quicksand TERRIFIED ME as a child. Still does. I certainly wouldn't be toying with it.

I live a couple of streets away from the beach, it's quite a popular beach too so therefore brings in hundreds if not thousands on a good day. With that being said it still attracts people on colder days, which brings me to my point.. My hubby and me took our dog out as usual but went further up the beach and as we got out of the car I was reading signs saying the beach was dangerous and not to go out past a certain point. So we walked as far as we could and back again, but on the way we saw a man walking with his child and I said 'I hope he knows what he's doing...' so by the time we got home, we heard then saw the lifeguard rescue helicopter and then an air ambulance going over our home and towards the end of the beach we had just come from!! And later on in the local news we heard a man and his 7yo daughter had been rescued after being stuck in the quicksand!!! They were really lucky but signs like that are there for a reason.... You guys seem to know what you're doing but please be careful... Liverpool UK 😊

Aloha. Yes...that WAS quick sand. You guys crack me up. Its a tidal flat, water gets caught up in concentrations of > 72% and what you keep playing on is a hydrogel. A change in pressure of a mere tiny footstep *can* change the molecular structure to liquid...and kill you. What you're in is called a tidal flat and it's pretty rare that people end up dying, but you could have got stuck up to your waist and you might have died. It does happen.
If it would have went up over your chest it would have crushed your air cavities and he would have suffocated which is a terrible way to die. Its very painful and terrifying.
When visiting Oregon Coast or the Washington coast. please be careful and bring a damn walking stick.

In Washington where the coast can be legally drove on, we get stuck often in our vehicles (pulling tourists out makes for a great side gig). 👍

Be careful when clamming and be extra careful when VISITING THE DUNES down yonder in Oregon.
