Bluey THE CLAW Theory & Breakdown: Bandit Teaching Gambling?? Magic Claw Episode Easter Eggs & More!

Here is my Bluey Theory and Breakdown of the season 1 episode The Claw aka Magic Claw. Was this an analogy for the gambling addiction issue in australia? also all the bluey easter eggs and hidden references in this episode!

I am a big fan of bluey and with season 3 airing in Australia, I thought I would do a breakdown of every episode with a small review, some spoilers, and any bluey theories that might pop up. Bluey season 1 and 2 hit disney plus two months after airing in Australia so hopefully, all of season 3 will be out for everyone soon!

You know I never thought about that this was a lesson about gambling, I just thought Bandit was trying to get the kids to do work while teaching them that claw machines are a waste of money. Which now that I think about it, is pretty much gambling. People work so hard at their jobs to get money, just so they can gamble and most likely lose. My mom worked at a casino for so many years (probably more years than I’ve been alive) and she’s always told be about the people who sit in their car and cry because they’ve just lost all their rent money. Thankfully, my mom quit that job at the casino and decided to be a nurse! I hope everyone else in the world stops gambling because it’s really bad and there are better ways to earn money. I knows it’s an addiction for some, but if you work hard enough, you’ll achieve your goal. “The Queen is not afraid of a bit of hard work!” -Bluey

My favourite line was bingo saying "hehe, bottomless". But overall this episode was great and I think the lesson was implemented perfectly.

One of my favorite moments happens when Chili read the block, then gives Bandit the stink eye and says, "You spelled 'holder' wrong." I always wondered, though, if he actually wrote something else that she wasn't willing to say in front of the kids. I mostly thought the lesson was about responsibility. You can't always rely on imagination and desire to get what you want, which is what Chili seemed to be suggesting in her pretend play; Bandit was trying to show them that you have to work for it. And I think he was also just trying to be more realistic about how claw machines are.

we have a gambling problem in the USA, in some states (especially mine) there are slots lounges EVERYWHERE. literally on every street corner its insane

It is true that overall the episode has themes of instant gratification and that working for something feels the best in the end rather than just being handed it, but isn’t the real lesson that Bluey and Bingo are awesome kids? I mean, Bandit said it himself. I think he said that because he intended to not give them the bottomless ice cream to teach the lesson that you can’t always win, but they managed to work out their own way to get the prize by tickling him.

Chili's all smug about Bandit having learned the lesson, but both of them are going to be in for it when the girls are bouncing off the walls or getting sick from all that bottomless ice cream. 😆

I believe the claw is just like pass the parcel. It’s about accepting the reality you don’t always win or get what you want.

Anyways I loved the claw episode, it is by far one of my favorites.

I think the lesson Bandit was trying to teach is that things don’t come true if you wish for them, but they do if you work for them.

I love when the kids talk with barks instead of words, my 4yr old makes silly sounds or quotes fave words in different tones when she's very excited or shy, and she really lights up when they do what she views as the same thing. Idk if that is a normal small kid thing or not but it makes her feel happy so it has a special place in my heart for me. :)

1:25 imagine of the restaurant called them garlic bones…

Their was a pizza place near my parents home and one of the menu items was garlics bone . Basically small bits of leftover pizza dough used to make them with garlic seasoning, butter and cheese.

"There was no one who liked all three flavors". I did and still do. If I had to rank them though, it would be Strawberry, Chocolate and vanilla. I'd love to see someone like Ben and Jerry do a version of neopolitan that uses mango instead of vanilla as an homage to the ice cream episode.
