I'm still amazed how everything in an engine holds together at such speed for so long. My detroit diesel has almost 900k miles and still runs like a top. Amazing engineering.

What's crazy is realizing that valves normally open and close in the path of those pistons. For every revolution of the crank. It's truly amazing how it all works without self destructing. Let alone the fact that it actually powers a vehicle.
