For those finding difficulty, switching to a thicker pick might help because it would flex less and also train/force you to just tap/tickle ONLY the top 1/2 of the string which is the skill that you want to achieve and perfect. Any deeper than that and you get pick hang up.

Practice this speed skill on 1 note only and you'll see what I mean.

I switched to Jim Dunlop 2.5 mm black Jazz picks (discontinued long ago) to ward of pick thieves (it worked) and my picking accuracy improved a geat deal.

I also drilled 10 or so little tiny holes in the picks to improve grip. 👍👍👍 Sometimes the smallest improvements/modifications yield big results.

Also, place your guitar up high across your body as other speed picking merchants do.
