For all those who comment that the conductor is "joking around". The purpose of the conductor being in front of the orchestra is to prevent the orchestra from falling apart, but that's not all, someone has to practice with that orchestra. I doubt that the composition "Tico Tico" would have been played like this if there was no maestro Daniel Barenboim. This is one of the best and even the best conductors in the world, and personally as someone who plays in an orchestra, I can say that it is not easy to be a conductor at all. Everything is made up on stage, but no one sees how it looks like the conductor is struggling in rehearsals. Congratulations to Master Conductor Daniel Barenboim and the orchestra

This is great! I especially liked the way Mr. Barenboim took an understated approach to his conducting, letting the orchestra run its course for a bit. Shows how much he trusted his musicians. Bravo! Encore!

This little clip always makes me chuckle! Barenboim really looks like he's having fun (cutting loose at 0:47 and 1:07! And the wink at 0:30!! A nice change of pace from the standard program (no disrespect to the standards intended!)
