The 1995 version is the best realisation of Jane Austen's book. Many dialogues are in the book, word for word. When reading I literally see both of them speaking.
Brilliant!

Colin Firth's little expression as he realizes he's made an idiot of himself after asking twice about her parents' health, it was hilarious. BEST ever P&P anyway, but it's these mini-moments.

I love Mrs Gardiner saying "can you not?" It's very much "oh come on - he clearly fancies you and is struggling not to sound like a teenager going through puberty"

I love that he hates to watch her cry. Also how he takes control to offer some comfort & make her tell him what is wrong. What's even more cute is he comes off cold and Lizzie thinks he doesn't want to have anything to do with her anymore bc of the "taint" but he really was trying to run off to go save the day and her family.

Just realized how they both have very expressive eyes, which do so much to keep the mood.

"Lizzie, how do you like my castle?"
Fitzwilliam Darcy with the big flex

Colin Firth's most iconic role, in my opinion.

Love how he asks again if her parents are in good health. Feeling awkward in front of her, how beautifully played. Many men can relate

I love the scene where he comforts her. He is gentle, kind and gracious, but also because Lizzys prejudice towards him thinks him saying "this will not allow you to dine with us today" as a kind way of saying 'you are all disgraced because of your sister' when in reality he is saying 'you must leave at once to attend to your family which means you cant stay for dinner' its not an insult. Its just a statement of fact. Its so nuances its amazing.

I absolutely admire the performances of Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth. This was my first introduction to "Pride and Prejudice". I can never seem to stop comparing theirs and 2006 performance. The 2006 production was more comprehensible to modern audiences. This one is considerably more subtle and sedated but simultaneously restrained passion. So much so, it is unbearable at times. The heart seems to want to burst but never does.

There is but one Mr. Darcy.
This introduced me to both Pride and Prejudice and Colin Firth ... a win and a win!

Love how the tone of conversation changes from sombre, stilted and formal to their previous warm and teasing banter right after ‘my feelings are so different, in fact, they are quite the opposite’. Especially on Elizabeth’s side. From polite strangers to playful confidants - just from that one brilliantly crafted sentence.

I adore this version. Possibly my favourite TV programme ever.

I love this version of Pride and Prejudice! It was so well performed by all the cast members. Colin Firth was super gorgeous in this role...so manly and gentleman like (for the most part)

Ah, if only every man offered me a glass of wine when I became “unsettled.”

The best interpretation of the novel by a long shot.

One of my favorite things about period dramas is that everytime a woman cries she's treated as though she's in ill health, all of the situations I could have gotten out of if everyone thought I was sick every time I was emotional. Then again if you do that too much you end up locked in the attic or a distant wing of the house until the day you decide to set it on fire.

“I hope you are not displeased with Pemberly?”

Elizabeth’s face: Bitch, have you SEEN your house?
