Thank you Chad. This is an excellent explanation. I'm reminded of Paul's words to Timothy, to study to be able to rightly divide the word of truth. Thank you.

2 Chronicles 29:30 does state that Asaph was a seer/prophet. (30And Hezekiah the king and the officials commanded the Levites to sing praises to the Lord with the words of David and of Asaph the seer.) He was not just a poet.

Peace treaties tend to spring forth from the ashes of war. There will be a day when a peace treaty will be signed and broken midway which will end in catastrophe and yet salvation for the world. This current war may or may not be related to that future peace treaty, however, it is a part of Israel's story and current history and when it is over we will see more clearly if it fits the narrative of Psalm 83, or any other portions of scripture.

May God give Israel His peace.

Thank you for covering this content so clearly and plainly. I must say that I have became frustrated with pastors who are often unwilling to remind their congregations of these truths when conflict stirs up in the modern nation state of Israel. I've actually confronted some of them about it and their excuse is that it is not a gospel or kingdom issue and would potentially be divisive. While I understand that, I also believe that the church has a responsibility to stand up for the helpless and those who will be left widowed and orphaned. Yes, it's a divisive issue, but God's word is equally clear on it. It's at times like these when falsehoods get proclaimed and taught via social media and yet so many in the church are so hesitant to speak the truth because it may not be popular.

With all due respect, I didn't hear a clear argument from you regarding WHY/HOW Psalm 83 is definitively not prophecy.

Psalm 83 is a prophetic scripture and not just a solitary prayer that is limited, otherwise the situation happened thousands of yrs ago and has not place 3 thousand yrs into the future. Ecclesiastes 1:9 - get ready!

Love your content, but on this I strongly disagree. Psalms 83:5 makes it clear its a single event because these nations know one another as joined in a confederacy that attach Israel simultaneously.

Psalms 83 war is definitely prophetic because it mimics the events, nations the same way the 10 nation coalition does in Ezekiel and Isaiah.

Amen, humans are naturally predisposed to predictive models of thought and scripture, adage, parable and psalm that supports such models. Of course, it is no wonder since scripture is so loaded up with prophecy and futuristic vision. I take to heart your message that we must be careful in that indulgence.

Thank you. Pastor Andy Woods from Sugarland Bible Church in TX said Psalm 83 is an imprecatory prayer.

This doesn't mean Psalm 83 is being fulfilled but if Israel destroys Hezbollah and Hamas and secures there borders at Lebanon and the Gaza strip or annexes them completely, then it will be a fulfillment. This also means it will possibly lead up to the Damascus prophecy and the Gog and Magog war.

There is an argument to be made that prophecy does not have to be in a prophets book.
Look at all the prophecy in Genesis, Abraham, Isaac and Eliezer are a strong type and shadow of the Trinity along with Rebekah, one of the redeemed, the chosen. There are several prophesies about Christ that don't come from prophets.
I agree that it isn't useful to keep a wide open mind, grasping onto the first ideas that enter the mind, nor be close minded.
What could be a prophecy about today? These days do seem awfully tumultuous.
At least during WW3, our enemy was gathered into distinct places, wearing uniforms, where today you could be standing next to someone that would dance on your grave.

The key to Psalm 83 is who are the hidden ones.
Obviously it’s a people we don’t recognize as Israel.
