Massive quake rocks Myanmar and Thailand

Hundreds of people are dead, buildings flattened, and dozens are missing following a powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake on Friday that rocked Thailand and Myanmar.

Myanmar is dangerously close to 3 different tectonic plates. They really need to overhaul their construction processes to incorporate earthquake measures if they haven't already. Didn't look like it.

Edit: Apparently, in 2010 they finally instituted building codes to use earthquake rated materials in buildings over 3 stories. They haven't had a chance to catch up yet.

The news reporting was a little misleading, as it actually struck in Myanmar firstly and the Thai side of things was merely a follow-on quake. Goodness knows how badly damaged Myanmar must be?😞
