Wars especially the first and second world war were truly horrific.Citizens commissioned off to fight in a war just because they were physically and mentally fit. This story is just the most tragic. Rest in Peace Arthur, your service is thoroughly recognised.

It's very moving that over 100 years later, that young man hasn't been forgotten.

Personal, emotional stories like this truly make you understand the absolute cruelty and brutal stupidity of war. Yet, more than 100 years later there are still dozens of active conflicts all over the world, as if we haven’t learned anything.

It is so sad that he died in war! You are preserving their story through their books and your channel. That is beautiful!

I found a french WWI Notre Dame de Lorette medal who's sculptor met a similar fate. The level of detail was absolutely gorgeous and, being that she's the patron of pilots, there were biplanes carved into the scenery. I tried to look up the artist in hopes of finding more of his work, only to learn how short his life had been due to the war.
Rest in piece Etienne.

A wonderful testimony to love! I can feel the love with which they were made and received. I hope those volumes are never separated. It would feel like breaking their hearts by wresting them apart.

Just seeing the front and back gold embossing gives me chills, the story of the binder, tears to my eyes...

This is why I collect books. It’s not just the stories contained in them, but the history the books have gone through. ❤

I hate War ... but cherish liberty and honor. The cost is loss to humanity.

Yesterday I found the dearest book, it has a young person’s annotations scattered throughout but most dear was the note written for the child on the first page. People can share their souls with books
