If cloud-based gaming is the future (which I hope it isn't), it sure ain't the immediate future, or the present.

For a year milestone for the 20th anniversary of KH, this feels like a mockery to all KH fans.

When Melody of Memory was announced, I wondered if the rest of the Kingdom Hearts series would ever come to the Switch. A year & a quarter later, and Melody of Memory is still the only KH game on the Switch

This is literally still better than the actual cloud versions of the games

I was actually planning on getting these all on the switch to play through them all again, glad I went and picked up the remaster ps4 versions instead, the idea that I could play them anywhere was the only reason I wanted. Seriously hope cloud versions on the switch are a one and done type of deal, if they ever release a true port to the switch I’d gladly buy them

The second I heard "cloud versions", I knew to stay away. Was it really that hard to just stick some PS2 ports on a couple of carts????

They just disrespected us Kingdom Hearts and Switch fans with this cloud version

It's sad, and it's true. Especially since I think all of us know that everything before 2.8 could totally run natively on Switch in a heartbeat.
Hopefully we get a non cloud version some day, I'd kill to have the whole series (minus 3 and 0.8) on the go.

Bruh I feel for those playing it on the switch.

Missed the part where it cuts out and kicks you back to the main menu, losing all your progress

Man, they really did us dirty with 1.5+2.5 and 2.8 (as far as DDD goes). Like I get 0.2 and 3 being cloud based, but there's no doubt that 1, CoM, 2, BBS, and DDD could run natively on the Switch.

No joke, the Direct started buffering for me once it got to the Kingdom Hearts part, and I laughed so hard it turned into a coughing fit.

I already played the Demos from the eShop and the Cloud version is borderline unplayable. I remember Square Enix saying the reason why the Kingdom Hearts games are running on a Cloud Server was because of system memory or storage. If Square Enix so was concerned about space, here’s how they can work around it.
They could release the I.5 and II.5 Compilation separately. Just like with the PlayStation 3. That way they could potentially avoid the drama of the cartridge only having half of the collection and the other half being download only. I’m looking at you Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster.

If they are still concerned about spacing, then just release the games from I.5+II.5 and II.8 individually on the Nintendo eShop. If it means the games running on Switch hardware (possibly at 60fps), I’d be more than happy with that route. As long as The HD Cinematics for 358/2 Days, Re: Coded and X Back Cover would be available on eShop for free.

As for Kingdom Hearts III, I think the Switch would have handled III okay with a separate team within Square Enix to handle the porting job. I mean, look at The Witcher III and Doom Eternal. Both games are down scaled onto the Nintendo Switch to the point where they are playable enough on the Switch. I mean, Kingdom Hearts III doesn’t have me insert two PS4 discs into the system to fully install the game like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Final Fantasy VII Remake. If the gameplay graphics have to miss some graphical effects, worse framerate, lower resolution and potentially every cutscene being an FMV, I’d be more than fine with that if it meant Kingdom Hearts III was on Switch.

I’ve got some friends who haven’t played the series yet, but I really want them to try out the games and I’m going to say this as a gamer that prefers 3rd Party games on Switch due to portability, I advised them to get them on PS4 or PS5 or Xbox. Because for the Switch cloud versions, especially considering fast paced combat with the player’s attention being demanding is a defining feature of the Kingdom Hearts series, I’ll think I’ll wait for a Proper Switch port. I’ll just play them on my PS5.
