This is acutally an important point.
Through my life, I was forced to have repeated introspective analysis in order to not go off the rails. I did this on my own, mostly without help.
You will learn new things about yourself if you do this. You will also be aware of some pretty nasty flaws.
But seeing something, however ugly, is the first step to either change it or accept it.
None of that subconscious, stabs-you-in-the-back, resurfacing bullshit that burns out so many stressed people.

Like Kobe Bryant many misses makes many makes and it becomes legendary. You can't be scared of your own mistakes.

Great video I may probably check out your book

I am kind of in the same boat. I am already fully aware of my own "failure narrative" because I had to face these realities in order for life to make sense to me growing up - "repeated introspective analysis". I am going to skip formally writing it out as suggested.

Because he's never actually had to overcome any obstacles in his life. It's not that hard to be successful when you have everything working for you.

I'd rather read a book on success written by someone who's actually had to overcome lots of obstacles in their life and have them tell us how they overcame those obstacles, that would make more sense.

I never thought of a success narrative of my life, only failure narrative, what to do then?

I am a privileged white anglosaxon male, I am quite healthy and I am completely unable to understand why some people would fail. Hence I say things that make people feel guilty for not "succeeding" in life, since I have absolutely no ability for empathy.

Is it normal that my failure story is me becoming Batman but went insane?

How is he trying to make people feel guilty? Because he's had it so easy in his life. He's the average healthy, middle-class, Anglo-Saxon American male who found (relative)success in wait for it...America.

He has never overcome any obstacles and he's writing a self-help book for people who aren't successful, even though lots of people don't have easy lives like his and their lack of success might be for reasons beyond their control.

that is your failure..., realize that failures are only bad if we do not approve upon them.
failing is a way to educate yourself, while succeeding is achieved from what you have learned

What's going on with bigthink. This channel used to be about intelligent people sharing thoughts and ideas on interesting subjects.
We don't need bloody internet coaching!

I think he is trying to approach new generations, he is a professor.

Holy smoke, I just bought his book "The nothing that is" just because it looked interesting.

one more book written by a person who's only accomplishment is to write a book about something they have never actually accomplished themselves but believe if you read their book you can do what they have never done. the author needs to read his book that he has written, do something and give us proof it works.

Exactly, this should have been a top comment!

You'll never be prepared. Think about it.

It isn't groundbreaking advice in the first place, it's all such basic, common sense. I doubt you are going to find something worth the price of the book.

I'd be more persuaded to buy a self-help book on success if it was written by someone who actually came from absolutely nothing and had many struggles that they had to overcome to get to that success. That would be an account you could actually learn something from.

Just because he is a white male, doesn't mean that he hasn't faced any obstacles in life. And that still doesn't answer my question of how he is trying to make people feel guilty. What do you know about him anyway?
