I've camped, fished recreationally and recreationally my entire life. I trained to be a fireman as a teen and earned an AS degree in firefighting, then logged in Oregon as a young man with a family. Earned a CDL and used it often during my life having to tie down countless loads of various kinds on land and sea throughout my adult life. I was a ground rigger for IATSE for 20 years while I learned to sail and spent endless hours coiling every kind of rope known to man on more stages and boat decks than I could ever count. At this point in my life I just have one question for you...why did you wait until I am 69 years old before you showed me this?

An interesting twist on the standard Hank's knot. Thanks, it works well. I have often had my Hank only pull so far. This has pulled out in each test.

That's great. Just realised that the figure 8 will stop the line from getting a twist in it which always happens if it's coiled all in the same direction. I'll use the same principle to wrap all ropes & extension cords from know on! Live & learn
