The Original Kung Fu Comedy! Won Fei Hung (Jackie Chan) stars as the mischievous young son of a martial arts school master who is constantly clowning around when he should be learning kung fu. After his comic antics injure the son of a powerful local man, his father enlists the help of his sadistic uncle to teach his son a little self-discipline. This strange man, who has a reputation for crippling his students, tries to teach Fei Hung a bizarre style of kung fu. At first, Fei Hung resists, but after losing a fight with a local assassin who has been hired to kill his father, he realizes he must master the special art of the "Drunken Boxer." DRUNKEN MASTER was the second collaboration between director Yuen Wo Ping (fight choreographer for The Matrix and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) and Jackie Chan. Blending intricate martial arts moves with Jackie Chan's trademark slapstick comedy, DRUNKEN MASTER ushered in the new genre of kung fu comedy and established Chan as its uncontested king.

Props to Thunderleg for attacking jackie even while he's drinking unlike anime villains who stand still and wait for the heroes to power up.

Still one of the scenes with the best fights ever. A fight not controlled by various camera angles, no camera shaking and no wasted movements on both actors.

Great fight - Hwang Jang Lee is superb too, I love his expressions whenever Freddy comes up with a new drunken god.

Hwang Jang Lee has said, in his entire career, there has been only one person who had the best rhythm and chemistry on screen when performing their ballet fights together. And that man was Jackie Chan. Also, there were no mistakes during the filming and proud of that also.

Fun Fact: Yuen Siu-tien, who played the old Drunken Master that teaches Jackie, is the real-life father of the movie's director/fight choreographer Yuen Woo-ping.
Yuen Woo-ping has directed/ did fight choreography for countless Hong Kong and Hollywood movies. ( Once Upon A Time in China movie series, Kill Bill, Matrix Trilogy, Crouching Tiger/Hidden Dragon, Kung Fu Hustle, Ip Man 3 & 4 and many, many more...)

I grew up in a small village in the Philippines, Jackie Chan movies were always a treat. My friends and I would be practicing all those moves, brings back a lot of good memories 🤣🤣🤣

That section at about 5:10 where Jackie starts doing kip-ups and whatever else on the ground is insane athleticism. Also the long lens, no shaky cam, no fancy photography just straight lens showing the choreography is stunning. So glad that style is back in "Hollywood" thanks to stuff like John Wick (and others). Just glad it's back. This is still a landmark action/king fu title. Early J. Chan has no parallel really...

Jackie and Hwang are just beasts in this film. Talk about peak physical shape - they do more in 5 seconds of fighting than we can do in years of training. This movie holds it's own in 2022. A landmark martial arts film.

Also, Thunderleg is the greatest martial arts trash-talker ever. His lines were just hilarious.
