If you want to hide your whatsapp DP or profile picture from some contacts then what you do is open your whatsapp application. Tap on this more option here. Go to "settings". Go to "Account". Go to "privacy" and if you see here there is an option "Profile photo". Open it. Now at the moment everyone can see your profile picture or your dp. If you want to hide profile picture from certain contact then what you do select this option "My contacts except" and then you can select those contact from whom you want to hide the dp or the profile photo. Then Done. So once you do it those three contact will not be able to see the dp or profile picture of your whatsapp account.

The way to do this has changed so here’s how I did it:
‘Settings’ (bottom right of screen)
At the top search ‘privacy’
Then select ‘profile photo’
Then chose who you want to exclude
