This iceberg phenomenon is rare and known as "iceberg calving." It is the breaking of ice chunks from a glacier. If the center of gravity of the chunk is high enough, it can even flip over the ice chunk.

I was on a solo motorcycle trip when a massive chunk of the Perito Moreno glacier flipped in front of me. It was as if it had its own source of light inside the blue ice when it first got exposed, it was much brighter than its surroundings with a very sharp, glowing shade of blue. I had never seen anything so surreal in my life. Maybe only comparable to the moment when we caught the northern lights while on a plane over Greenland in pitch black. Earth is an amazing place and it will continue to be with or without us.

The sky blue ice to right when it settles. Wow, so long underwater & cold saturated formation. The color is fantastic. Amazing to see such a miracle happen. Like that beautiful ice unseen by raw light has its own energy of light inside it.

As icebergs melt trying to find the space rising waters need to exist overtaking beaches & Earth lands everywhere. Just like the iceberg flips only when the bottom is no longer bigger than the top. It is melted off the top into the ocean.

There is a clip going around where the boat is just right up next to one of these monsters ( less than a foot away). I made the comment, "What if it decided to flip at that moment? All hands lost". I think it's careless for a captain to get so close for photos. Maybe not on this occasion, but those icebergs are much larger underneath.
