The winter time is the best to live out cause You don't have to worry about bugs ....but it is cold so you want to wear double the clothes underneath too

I have carried a bivy for the past 50 plus years, Mine has a water proof bottom and a breathable top with a side zipper. I use inside my tent to hold my sleep system together. I t works great on a warm summer night under the stars. If there is a chance of rain I use my bivy under the tarp tent . I still have ventilation under the tarp tend and an I can sit up during a day of down pour.

The Bivy is an alternative to a heavier tent. I like the ODG Alpha Kit Hunka, even tho it doesn't have bug netting, it is much less claustrophobic than the other 4. That's my 2sense! Ciao:)!

"Spin drift"... yeah, it can change the calculation of the deviation of a bullet caused by the spin imparted from the rifleing of the barrel?
I think not.

Don’t buy one unless you can also bring or buy a rain tarp. I own a bivy tent, love the weight and portability, but it rains in nature. You don’t want to spend a few awake hours in a bivy tent.

The problem with bivy sacks unless providing clear interior space without making body contact is that wind, rain and snow making contact you won't get a comfortable nights sleep.

Give the weight in grams so its relevant to the rest of the world. Get educated, not dumbed down.

None of these meet even the most basic minimum requirements. What did you do, choose the first five g00gIe results? Lame. First off, bivy must weigh much less than the lightest good tent, because bivy's require 5oz tarps as backup. Zpacks has a 14oz tent. Durston 17oz. Therefore, bivy's must be less than 6-7oz. Second, bivy's must breathe. Otherwise, they are sweatbox deathtraps.
