California Sea Hare (Aplysia Californica)

Here is a video of a California Sea Hare I came across while free diving a few days ago on Catalina island. This was my first time seeing a sea hare and I'm obsessed with them now! It was about two and a half feet long, a little smaller than my pet rabbit Wizzard at home. haha It really made me miss him!

Yeah this was definitely the biggest one I have seen! I had no idea they grey this big until I came over here and started diving on the island. Everything in the water seems to be larger over here, it's been awesome!

That's a big sea hare. The ones we get in the tidepools at Treasure island and Goff island are much smaller. I've never seen one any bigger than a foot in length. I have seen some very small ones though, 3 to 4 inches long.

I feel guilty.. i was just stepping on them when i was a kid.. i didn't know.. our oceans very abundant of resources back then early 90's. If only i knew...😔😔
