I collect these baskets so know some things about them. They are “Chinese wedding or sewing baskets.” They are traditionally given as wedding gifts with sewing supplies inside. The decoration has various representation. The large ring on top is indicative of eternal or long marriage. The coins are for prosperity, and I believe the beads represent many children. They sometimes have tassels. They usually date around turn of century-early 1900’s. Americans at this time were really interested in Chinese culture so the Chinese started creating these baskets for import to the US. I bought my first basket at a GW when I was 16. I’m now 62, and still collect them. 😁

Hi folks. I hope Andrew picked up the paratroopers photos, as they are my Dad! I would like to be able to get them. They are when he was training the astronauts for NASA. If not please let me know they went to a good home. Thank you, Jeri

I want to give your a special thank you. In this video you had one candle stick with Hebrew writing on it. Thank you for handling it this care and respect. In this age of increased antisemitism i greatly appreciate respect and kindness towards my religion. I wish your attitude was the norm. Hatred hurts us all. Thank you again. Just by the way i love your videos and look forward to them each day.
I think the candle stick was probably one of a pair that was used to light for the Sabbath and holidays. Candle sticks like that are sometimes passed from generation to generation. I have my great grandmother's from Poland.

Thank you for letting Andrew do picking. He is willing to risk on items he doesn't know a whole lot about. But I think he has a great eye for things. This makes the videos so much more interesting.

I always find the photo's of Pearl Harbor so chilling, especially the one's near the Arizona with those fellows standing in the boat. My father in-law was one of the people, in one of those boats during and after the attack, and his descriptions of his part in it were simply hellish. It was the one thing the Navy allowed for him, and that was to never wear his whites ever again. He was wearing them when he went into the harbor that day, as he was on shore patrol duty, and by the time he left they were covered in filthy toxic fuels and the burned off skin of his fellow sailors. In the end his uniform had to be burned, and all that he retained was his web-belt that day, which he gave to me. The reason he was allowed to never wear whites again, was that he could not put them on without becoming violently ill from the memories of what he endured that day, and in the days that followed. He was a trained Navy diver, and underwater cutter and welder, so he was part of the crews that cut open the hulls of the ships after the battle in an attempt to rescue the trapped sailors. He would not describe the things he saw from doing that, as he said he had spent his entire life trying to forget it. Now we know he had PTSD, but in those days they didn't give the boys much help with anything like that. Still, Dad was a wonderful man, even if somewhat stiff and aloof, and I have always been very proud of his service and what he did that day. He was one of our many unsung heroes at Pearl.

I know you don't really do what sold videos anymore, but I think a fun video would be your favorite finds of the year even if it comes after the new year, personal collection or sales! Love everything from your channel and look forward to every video

Between shopping, comparing prices, looking up history of items, posting them to eBay, packing and shipping. You two are the hardest working people ever. You must love what you do.

The Mola textile is a real interesting piece of textile. You sew several colored layers of fabric together. You cut out a first shape to reveal the color of fabric beneeth it. Then you cut in the second fabricto reveal the third color and so on. The cutouts are turned under with a tiny seam and stiched down with tiny stitches. The more intricate and the more layers makes the pieces more valuable as does the age of the pieces. I have a few pieces of Mola and teached the basics of this technique to my former quilt group.
