Our country was founded on a fairly simple philosophy, that our government be led by its citizens. Voting is how we participate. Yet, in 2016, voter turnout across the nation hit a 20 year low and states across the country continue to make it increasingly more difficult for constituents to cast their ballot. Congressman Joe Neguse answers the overarching question at the heart of our American democracy – how do we get more people to vote? Congressman Joe Neguse represents Colorado’s 2nd District in the U.S. House of Representatives. He was elected to his first term in November 2018, becoming the first African-American member of Congress in Colorado history. He serves as a member of the House Judiciary Committee, House Natural Resources Committee and the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis.

We need less people voting. An 8th grade civics test should be required for all potential voters. If you can't pass that then you have no place in choosing who leads this country.

re. Vote by mail. Isn’t there a way to vote on line, for those who are computer literate as an option. We could get our voting forms by e mail, together with bar codes. Eliminates the post office altogether.
