Also it's worth mentioning another symbolism present in the Vietnamese emblem: the star in the centre is shaded that way to symbolise the sunlight shining from the East Sea (from the right) onto the land of Vietnam.

Quite a detail explanation. Missing the "red for blood of those who fought for the freedom"(many pointed this out already) and the yellow color of the star is yellow skin of the people.
