Taean County belongs to Chungcheong Namdo province which is at the mid-western part of Korea Peninsula. The name Taean has been used for over seven hundred years. Taean owns a coastline that stretches a distance across 559.3km and faces 114 islands with a variety of sizes. Taean county is well-known for the Anmyeondo Island Recreational Forest, 30 beaches connecting to the beautiful coastline and a large number of islands related to fascinated legends.
A vast number of people come to Taean for travel each year, especially in summer. Tourism is one of the priorities of Taean county's policies.
