The priest is one of the most under appreciated actors in the movie. He just sits quietly making faces as Salieri talks, but his expressions are important to the flow of emotions as the story unfolds.

My favorite scenes are when it cuts back to Salieri's retelling with the priest. He is such a fan of Mozart he can't help himself. His vocabulary and command of language is so perfect it somehow takes me to the point of laughing with tears in my eyes. He is such a mess but shines brighter describing Mozart than any other time in the film. It is like he was waiting his whole life to finally cry out to God, from his heart, for once.

Before I used to think that Tom Hulce (Mozart), should have gotten the Oscar for Best Actor, but now every time I watch this movie (for the 88 times I think), I completely agree that Murray Abraham was well deserving to be the Best Actor..very convincing Salieri..bravura performance from start to finish

When he called her "greedy song bird", as a child I didn't understand. I just thought it was because she just loved to sing. Years later when she sings those "ghastly scales", I can see her smiling cause she must feel so free n happy to be able to show off her vocal skills instead of just singing a couple of notes for a still moment.

Anyone ever notice how each cut to an opera is SO genius? Every time, it's some real powerhouse editing, each cut to an opera is so thematically synched to the music

Mozart was probably 26 years old, and is playing in the national opera in front of the emperor. Im 26 and im thinking of what i have achieved or done this year :(

The most beautiful scene in this film is when Constanzia brings Mozart's sheet music to Salieri, who then sight reads it in his mind. In shock, he drops the music to the floor and leaves for another room and throws a crucifix into the fireplace declaring, "Now we are enemies!" My heart stood still when I first saw this.The whole movie then made sense.

Suzanne Murphy (the soprano singing the aria) is FLAWLESS. Other sopranos specially in the highest notes of the score become lazy and just make one continuous sound rather than proper form. This woman on the other hand hit every single note with precision and grace. Truly my favorite soprano of all time!

I hate it when people criticize the historical inaccuracies of the movie. Jeez, it's a work of art, not a documentary. The historical setting is a background to what happens in mozarti and salieri's souls.

Mozart singing his opera along with the performers as he conducts is wonderful. He's like a child playing with his new toys on Christmas morning. Compare this to his visible emotional pain later in the film as he conducts Don Giovanni.

F Murray Abram's acting is so amazing. Just the few quick camera cameo jump cuts back to his seething restless jealous facial expression are genius.

Even though the actress who played the opera singer is only in the movie for a few minutes, she's memorable and makes the most of it. That look of lust she shoots in Mozart's direction from 0:58 to 1:03 during the "Hurt me, break me" bit is hilarious, as is Salieri's shocked "OMG, THEY TOTALLY FUCKED?!?!" reaction. Gets me every time, lol. Such a beautiful movie all around.
