Encrypted DNS Policy and Technical Call, 19th August 2024

Peter Lowe, Ambassador for DNS Abuse at FIRST.Org, joined us this week to talk about the progress that FIRST's DNS Abuse SIG has made documenting ways to identify the various types of abuse and methods to prevent them. It will add mitigation options as well in due course.

Peter also touched briefly on abuse in blockchain-based naming systems, noting that there may be synergies between DNS abuse work and similar vulnerabilities in some of the blockchain-based naming systems. We will pick up this discussion over coming weeks to see if there is support in reaching out to some of the new naming systems to share knowledge and potentially offer help.
