The way Anthony Ramos belts “Tomorrow they’ll be more of us” after Eliza reads “His hope of this dies with him” with never fail to choke me up.

Hamilton: “I’ll miss him”
Laurens’ ghost: “hey”
Hamilton: “I’m so sad I’ll never see him again”
Laurens: “I’m right here”
Hamilton: “sometimes it’s like I can hear his voice...”
Laurens: “aight I’m coming back as your kid just so I can die again and make you feel worse “

Just imagine, if John Laurens actually we’re able to carry out creating the first all black battalion, how the world would be a lot different then today

Hamilton looked and sounded like he was damn well ready to cry when he looked at Laurens' ghost. Top-notch acting from Lin!

So there's an official Hamilton book that has the lyrics to every song and pages about the history and behind the scenes things. There are footnotes in the lyrics that give more insight into the writing and the history and occasionally point out historical inaccuracies that were included to make the play simpler or better. This was the footnote included in Lauren's Interlude:

"Here's the thing about Hamilton's response: it's more telling when he's quiet than when he has something to say. This was true of historical Hamilton as well. We have very little written record of his grieving for Laurens. For a man who has an opinion on everything, for him to hold back betrays genuine, life-changing grief. It is possible that Hamilton and Laurens were lovers at some point--Hamilton's letters to Laurens are every bit as flirtatious as his letters to the opposite sex, if not more so. If this is the case, the silence betrays an even more profound grief."

In other words, Lin knew what he was doing

Just when Alexander was really happy after singing Dear Theodosia, Eliza really went "nope, your boyfriend just died".

The fact Anthony said he was trying not to laugh at his own death 😂😂

I just realized that this is the only part of the musical where Eliza and Alexander are actually talking to each other and not singing…somehow that makes this scene even more powerful 😞💔
