It is highly offensive to suggest that "commercial sales of firearms at gun shows, and on the internet are not required to have a FBI NICS background check, and the director of the ATF should set these politicians straight. The only sales of firearms that do not require a background check is person to person AKA private sales. At what point does my firearm become personal property? If I sell my firearm to someone I don't know then hold me responsible! Universal Background checks on all sales will be unenforceable without registration of all firearms. Why does the government need to know what firearms I own?

Once all of America's existing laws are uniformly enforced (without preferences centered around sex, complexion, levels of affluence, political affiliations, and so forth), more would be willing to discuss moderate measures pertaining to gun ownership. #NoDoubleStandards
