Big tip for console players: disable v sync. Even though you may notice some screen tearing, everything will be a lot more responsive.

I've never heard anybody call the mini boost pads "pennies", I find that really cute. This is also helpful for me since I'm a plat in 2's and 3's, so ty for this !

im a gold, and im just now finding out that plat is considered low level 😭
Great video !!! I’ve watched a bunch of videos on positioning and it never really stuck, but that first string of tips especially was really eye opening. Detailed explanations of those specific situations that always happen 👍🏻👍🏻Thank you!! Subbed

For the shooting positions if you’re in 3s have one guy low and one guy farther back

I really appreciate how understanding you made this video! I battle often with inconsistencies within Rocket League but desperately want to get better. I’m a diamond player by skill, but land in Plat II every time so hopefully with these tips that you’ve pointed out, I can become more consistent. You’re awesome dude

I literally have the exact same car as you at 11:17, Octane with the Kana decal and Cristiano's - and the same exact color scheme lol. Nice one!

Tip: Play with people that are actually at your skill 💯

There’s only one reason players get stuck in these ranks. They rarely rotate and they ball chase. Just because you can hit the ball doesn’t mean you should.

HK, these are fantastic comments. I've been playing in gold random 3's forever. Occasionally I'll see the platinum promised land, once in a great while I'll slump my way into silver (that hasn't happened for quite a while, thankfully). I've changed my positioning recently while crossing my fingers that a pass will get through, and that helps - for all the reasons you listed. The non-double (or triple) commit thing is difficult in this rank. There are times I find it helpful to follow a team mate (at distance), because chances are really good he's going to outpace the ball he's trying to dribble. It can create a vulnerability, but frequently allows the ability to advance the ball into the opponents' zone...you just can't remain in such proximity. I certainly need to buckle down and improve my dribbling, but hey, I'm an RL Geezer at 57, there's only so many new tricks I'm willing to take the time to learn. Lastly - it is always odd to me to hear "opponents" referred to as "enemies". I don't really understand why that is the choice of language in RL, it isn't like we're at war firing at each other from trenches, but that seems to be the language choice for some. Anyway - very helpful video - thanks very much. Sorry to write a book.

I honestly think this may be the greatest Rocket League tutorial channel on YouTube. I can't find, through my thousands of recommended videos of the same genre, a channel which offers more concise or better explained mechanics than this. For a guy who doesn't have a ton of time to grind out drills in free play, thank you, sincerely. I hope you get the subscriber base you deserve.

Great roundup man. Good tips in there! One thing I'd like to emphasize, though, as I feel like it helped me a lot:

Experiment with the camera and controller settings on your own. Don't stick to some pro's settings and expect to instantly improve.

I've tried lots of settings I found on YouTube, but only recently have I fiddled around with them on my own, and found settings that gave me much better overview over the field, and made me hit my shots much more consistently. I was struggling especially with the "easy" shots, like drive / shoot the ball straight into an open net and hitting the kickoffs right. Often times, I was missing the ball by just a little bit.
Ever since I customized the controller / Dodge deadzone, steering sensitivity, etc. to fit my playstyle, I feel like I made a huge step in the right direction, when it comes to consistency. A further camera distance also helped. Even though I might have to change this again, once I get more into dribbling and aerial play.

I just feel like some of the settings in RL are hard to explain, and have more to do with feeling and personal preference. Just experiment and see how you like it. And don't be afraid to go away from the stuff other people recommend. Your personal "comfort zone" might be different from what other people like :)

This truly was a great video. I've heard most of these tips before but somehow, the way you presented them made them truly sink in.
