In the Netherlands they release an app every year you can download. You get a few quick questions about things like income or charity spending(multiple choice) and you're done.

Damn, sad. Looks like every formula in US is "It would be better for citizens, but rich lobbying groups block it with money".
In my part of the world filing taxes consists of logging in, pushing "next" couple of times, checking if everything is ok and its over in max 5 minutes. Can't even imagine this trouble you have to go through.

I know this is a comedy channel, but this is 100% spot-on.

The idea that we need to determine our own tax liability is especially devious when coupled with the concept of tax withholding.

It's our responsibility to determine how much money was excessively taken from OUR PAYCHECKS... and if we screw up on our Form 1040, the government gets to keep money that was never theirs to begin with. Not to mention the fact that we don't get a penny of interest on any money that gets refunded to us.

I do love the UK for this, never have to do any calculations and if worst comes to worst and I've paid too much tax, the government sends a cheque in the post for the different.

Also on a completely separate point, I love being able to walk into a shop and actually knowing how much I'll pay for my damn items!

Watching A.R.E. I found that a lot of the problems in the US is caused by the fact that the Government has a great part of its functions done by private companies, of which it has became dependent economically
That's a loophole very hard to exit from
