bought a 2018 t60 Luxe 4years ago! would say it's pretty good, I haven't encountered any engine problems so far.. It's just the car paint is really sensitive & low on quality. The entertainment screen is also a bit slow but it does its job. Overall its a really great car for the price. Im eyeing to buying the Ldv MegaTUB now for Dirtbikes and upgrade.

all i see are comments and reviews bagging the ldv t60 simply because its chinese. inside is way more classy and high tech than a great wall or even some of the other better known utes. it looks just as tuff as a ranger or a hilux, apparently has the same engine as a holden colorado so with a remap could get same kw/torque figures making it one of the most powerful, has all the mod cons u could want and then some and is probably the cheapest of the lot. if i can come up with 30k im going to get one

When you're driving a pickup truck (ute), you don't want a rocket ship on wheels. You want something that's durable enough to withstand wherever you happen to be driving. You also want something that'll haul whatever you want to haul, without feeling like it's going to break in half while travelling gravel roads. You also want an engine with enough low end torque to perform whatever tasks you need without feeling tired while you're working. If only our American pickup trucks were built like that.

but would you be happy to take it bush and not worry about it breaking down the whole time?

Looked at it but decided against LDV after my experience with other small volume importers. Brands such as Renault, Moto Guzzi and others where regional dealerships don't exist and the importer only cares about sales, not service or spares. I'll stick to the brands that have workshops and spare parts in every town.

If they come out with a better diesel engine it will be a top seller and I'd happily swap my fleet over for the LDV utes

essentially, this old guy likes this rugged truck but he still has to put it down because it does not have sports car performance. lol

All the reviews I have seen about these all say the same thing, "under powered" and that is without a load in the back or pulling a loaded trailer.  Having a ute that is under powered empty is just dumb. What would it be like when fully loaded up?  No good having all the bells and whistles if it can't get you where you want to go in a reasonable time.  LDV has announced that it  will be bringing a D90 to Australia some time soon. The D90 also looks good on paper so  I sent an email to Elly Stanyer at LDV Australia and asked when the D90 would arrive in Australia and got no reply in over two weeks.  This tells me that either she is very busy or after sales service may be a problem with LDV vehicles.  It may be best just stay away from them until they have been out 4 or 5 years and got their act together or shut up shop.  A lemon is a lemon no matter if it cheap or not.  Just my thoughts.  Don't want to offend any ones feelings:)

I've won a brand new T60 in a draw 4 months ago and the first thing I did is to sell that and get a 2nd hand Hilux that is about 7 years older than the T60 and still I feel much better and safer to sit on one of these Chinese UTE

Didn't mention it's a Navara underneath?

funny thing is, in China, all the tradies there highly comment about Hilux, DMAX, Ranger etc. But what they drive daily are LDV, great wall and other cheapy China made utes, coz they can abuse them in rough rd, tow heavy things. Cheap to repair, parts are cheaper.

Drove one today, turns out it’s gutless as hell and handles like a boat. My 2014 Colorado kills it, sorry.

Even though this looks better than Great Wall, it's still going to be unreliable, worthless on thew 2nd hand market after 2 years, sort of like Hyundai when they first came to AUS, give them 10 years before they produce anything remotely decent, if you want cheaper go for the Triton, backed by a proper company with a 5 year warranty., take this thing on a real 4WD track and watch everything fall off and break, take it through a river crossing and watch it stop.

Talks pricing, quickly glosses over what a barking dog it is to drive, then a quick mention about what you get for your money. So in layman’s terms, it is a shitbox that you should avoid.
