Upgrade Your Fake Pumpkin's Stem!

If you're anything like me you own a bunch of fake pumpkins that you use for your Halloween display, but they all suffer from the same problem. The stems look awful. They lack character and make all of your pumpkins look fake.

So in this video, I'm going to show you a quick way to upgrade your fake pumpkin's stem using some wire, aluminum foil, and epoxy putty.

so I have about 30 fake ones scattered in the front yard. I carved them all with Jack-o-Lantern faces and I took the extra step of slicing off the top of the pumpkin (like you would with a real one) so you can see the crack of light when I put it back on there. That (plus the obviously hand made faces, that are FAR from symmetrical) makes it definitely not look store bought - people always ask me if I carved them all (to wish I answer YES). I only display them on Halloween night so you can't even see the stem but I love this technique.

That turned out great, very realistic. I liked the speckling of orange and green paint, but I wonder if it shows in haunt lighting? Not that minor detail would prevent me from doing small details like that. Presently. I don't have pumpkins in my haunt, hmmm... maybe I should have some. Thanks a bunch for the ideas!

Awesome work! Love working with fake pumpkins. For the stem, I recommend following up with a wood stain of your choice once the paint dries. All those grains will pop even more. Thanks for sharing 🤘💀
