I moved up to Alaska about a year ago. One night I was driving up north, with this song playing. Suddenly I saw the Northern Lights bright as hell.. I stopped the car, turned up the radio all the way, turned off the lights and layed on the hood of my car.. The feeling that gave me, the way this song enhanced that moment was something I have never felt before. It was like I was in a different world... It truly was amazing.

Once you become a weeknd fan, none of other artist's music makes the impact like his music does.

This song got me feeling feelings that don't even exist, and missing people I don't even know. XO

Unpopular opinion, but I truly think this is one of The Weeknd’s best songs

I cry so much every time I hear this. I can't understand how Abel created something so beautiful. I’m blessed.

This song was way ahead of its time. The video was way ahead of its time. This version of The Weeknd will most likely never return. But I’m glad I got to experience every bit of this era to the fullest extent. In a way it’s bitter sweet. xo

This song could make even a grown man cry. Especially with the visuals.
The man in the beginning of the video is King Selassie, who ran Ethiopa until a military coup killed him and his cabinet, proceeding to instill Marxism in his absence during that period in Ethiopia (True Story).
According to pics around the 1:40 mark, it seems in this story that Abel is related to King Selassie, who was a great man wronged by the people he trusted. If we assume Selassie is Abel's father in the video, than Abel and his father's coffin then get abducted by a ruler (Queen) in space (assuming it is due to his bloodline).
The woman he is with (his wife), cheats on him, as shown by (presumably) some council member (Military coup reference). But this time, Abel exacts revenge when he slays (has sex with) the women (slaves) with his bodyguards (friends) to get back at the Queen (now wife).
She than gets envious and angry despite her own cheating. She than splits the world in two (ending their relationship), and out of spite sends 2 other women (friends) to do more damage (Second attempt at a coup).
The two women arrive and take out his bodyguards before they suck the heart from Abel so they can deliver it back to the Queen so that she can destroy it.
It's at this point we see that Abel's heart is too pure, just like his father King Selassie (who was a man of peace). Abel succeeded where his father had been wronged (by avoiding the coup that ruined everything). That is why he turns into his father at the end, because not only did Abel persevere, but he also did so in the name of King Selassie as well.
In both scenarios, Abel and his father (in the story) end up standing over the people who wronged them; as they were both unbreakable and unshaken. Good people always get the last laugh, though it may be hard.

This song hits me deeper than anything else, takes me back to 2011, if only I knew how drastically different my life would be now, back then, I’d cherish every second .

I wish if there were private concerts just for the fans who truly appreciate his old music where he sings for us all the sad/dark songs and we all just sit quietly listening to the most beautiful voice we've ever heard.
Here's a wish list:

The knowing
The party & after the party
The birds 2
The zone
High for this
Professional
Coming down
Echoes of silence
Rolling Stone
Wicked games
Gone
in vein
Same old song
Birthday suit (i dnt think he would)
Valerie
Nomads
The list goes on but these r my TOP TOP TOP TOP favorites

now before u attack me
1- English is not my first language
2- I didn't mention new or old fans
I meant all the fans WHO APPRECIATE the old songs of his. I have 2 friends who just started listening to him this year and the deeper they dig into old songs the more the fall in love.

I swear if Abel wasn’t shy then and had the budget, he would’ve made this an actual short movie.

I’ve never cried this much to any song before. In my opinion, this is still the best song he’s ever made

Once you hear the 'Trilogy', you can never go back... 'Beauty Behind the Madness' is the surface depth of Abel's abilities. And I thought 'Beauty Behind the Madness' was a good album. His older works make that stark in comparison.

I remember years ago when I first heard this song I was actually asleep and i left my phone on with music playing but woke up too this and I felt like I was in a dream I can’t explain it or what I’m trying to say but this by far is the most beautiful heartbreaking song I have ever heard. Not to mention the video is just genius this man had to feel true pain to make this. Here it is 2020 and I’m still here. I love to just put my headphones on and just get lost in this song.

As an Ethiopian am so proud of this man Able Tesfaye he has a talent that’s so unique and not many people posses. His mindset to make great music is something truly rare in this day and age. 🖤🇪🇹🖤

I feel like this song is still so underappreciated. Speaks volumes, and if you've experienced anything like it, the song hits even harder.
