March LA.B AM2 Slim - Square by Design but not by Nature

I can confirm that March LA.B gets a lot of talks in the French watch community being french myself. This watch's design might not be to anyone's taste but I find it such a delite. A very unusual case shape indeed, but it contributes to its unique facia. I gotta love the green caseback and "3" at the date window! Such an iconic design element of the brand.

I had this model on the radar for quite some time, in brilliant brushed gold Magnum version was available on Ocarat much lower than the nowadays price(at least until Peter Kotsas recent review).Some things didnt convinced me to pick it up-Made in France and no screw-down crown.But it for sure its a nice design, love the horizontal lines of the indices

That is a great looking watch Esbjorn! I like square dials & was wearing my Tissot Quadrato chronograph last weekend. I think everyone needs at least one square dial watch as a point of difference.😎👍🏼

The burning question I am left with is why are the seemingly horizontal indices just subtly offset? I must admit that before this review I missed that aspect about this model, but now having seen it, for me it requires explanation to be able to potentially appreciate it, because I'm not sure that when looking at the dial in detail it really brings anything to the design. In fact, despite the consistency it can come across slightly sloppy. I understand the importance of the green 3, and yet when it is on the dial, I don't like the look. This is perhaps more the case on this white dialled watch than other models. I love the attitude and eccentricity, but sometimes I feel it is not entirely in service of the overall design and perception of quality and had they stopped one or two steps earlier, perhaps it would have been a more convincing design still. I completely agree though that it is worth keeping an eye on and would appreciate anyone making such a statement choice.
